In-Depth final- Wire Crochet
It so hard to believe that in-depth is coming to an end, it only seemed like a couple of week ago that pick my topic and sent out my first email to my mentor. It’s been over four months now, and I really can’t believe the fun I had with this project.
Anyways, we were told specifically to make our final blog post about how we were going to “celebrate our learning” during In-Depth Night. Obviously unlike some of my other classmate who’re doing singing or break-dancing, my presentation won’t be a stage performance. So my other option is a station, which will definitely work out splendidly for me. I am going to chose some of my favourite pieces I’ve made and just have them placed on a table. I’m not sure how many yet. I might also have a poster board with pictures of other pieces or basic info about wire crochet that I’ve learned. Most of the wire, hooks and other material I’ve used will also be on the table. Wire crochet is a very unique way of making jewelry so I could do some demonstration, you can never have too many wire beads!
Quite a few people have also asked me whether or not I was going to sell some of my pieces. Honestly I’m not sure, I get attached to my pieces and each piece is unique. Not only how it physically looks but also how I feel about it. What’s on I’m mind as I’m making the pieces will affect how the piece looks to me just as much as how tight or neat my stitches are. There’d be no way I can replicate a piece (this becomes quite bothersome when I’m trying to make earring or matching pairs of wings). I’d gladly give them out as gifts though, and truthfully I’ll probably never wear some of them. Not because I don’t like them or that they’re not my style, but like in the case of earrings, my ears aren’t pierced.
I’m definitely looking forward to In-Depth night on the 30th. I want to present what I’ve learned over the past months and I also want to see what others have done. Will I continue on with my wire crochet after the project? Oh, I most definitely will. I have all the supplies and ideas now, and even though I feel like I’ve improved, you can never have too much patience!
And finally I would like to thank my wonderful mentor, Amanda Maxwell, for all the help she’s given me and for finding time to meet up with me out of her busy schedule!

Louise,
It is so clear how passionate you feel about what you’ve learned in this project. The whole point of things like this are to explore something you may have never tried before and it has clearly worked for you. I’m very excited to get to talk to you more about what you’ve learned, it sounds so cool and very inspired.
